Thanks Ilker for calling on me cause I've got new stuff. Presently Google says:
“With Gmail, you can send and receive messages up to 20 megabytes (MB) in size. However, the precise amount allowable will depend on the attachment.
When you add an attachment, the size of a file may increase because transport encodings are automatically added. (Transport encodings are the information that allows your message to be safely sent and read.)
This means that in some cases, attachments that are 17 to 20MB in size may push the total message size above 20MB. When this happens, Gmail displays a warning that your message exceeds the 20MB limit.
Please note that you may not be able to send larger attachments to contacts who use other email services with smaller attachment limits.”

I saw something like this at one time. It essentially stored the files as if they were attachments to mails. The size of the files, however, was limited to the 10MB attachment size limit, so it would only let you store small'ish files in this way. Still, for MP3's it's handy. Does anyone know if this limit exists for this extension?

I'm quite sure that it's not against the Gmail TOS. If your account was locked, that was due to the amount of bandwidth you used in a single day. If you waited awhile, maybe up to 24 hours, your account should have been available again.

Even from the GSpace FAQ it notes:
My Gmail account was locked for 24 hours. What should I do?

A. Wait for 24 hours :) . This happens if large amounts of data is uploaded or downloaded in a single day. So, try to avoid that. If you are lucky, sometimes even though the account is locked, you can try logging again. It might work. (It worked for me sometimes, I don't know the reason).

It works, but keep in mind it is against Gmail's terms of service, so unless you only do a file here and there, you should avoid it. I used it to upload many files and was temporarily locked out of my account.

Like any storage device the risk of loosing data for one reason or the other always exits, so always backup important files. I've uploaded a good number of photos to share with friends and music that keeps me going at work..

This is great information. The two potential problems are if you don't have internet access then you can't access your information. Second is if Google somehow loses your files, which hopefully is a pretty low probability.

Of course the major upside is that this is FREE!

And you don't have to upgrade memory space etc.
