Scientology claims to offer "an exact methodology" to help humans achieve awareness of their spiritual existence across many lifetimes and, simultaneously, to become more effective in the physical world. However, reports and allegations have been made, by journalists, courts, and governmental bodies of several countries, that Scientology is an unscrupulous commercial enterprise that harasses its critics and brutally exploits its members.L. Ron Hubbard, science fiction author and founder of Scientology, believes that Xenu was the dictator of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of aliens to Earth in DC-8-like spacecraft, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living, and continue to wreak chaos and havoc today. Scientologists allege that Hubbard's teachings have remedied a plethora of problems and enabled them to better realize their highest potential in business and in their personal lives.

I don't know. I think the L Ron Hubbard wrote his fictional novels and found that people loved them. He definately had some specific thoughts on spirituality, but let his own fictional creations intertwine with his spiritual beliefs. Then he let people become over excited about the belief system in his books. He saw an opportunity to make more money and let the religion grow.

I just have to chime in. I am a Scientologist. I have personally had tremendous benefits from it. I've also helped many people, using what I've learned. I'm sure with most of you who have posted here, if we were to meet at a party or through a mutual friend, we'd probably get along fine. With the concept you have about Scientology you might be surprised to find out I'm a Scientologist. I doubt you would immediately dismiss me or diss me. It's kind of hard for me to fathom the kind of animosity I see here. So I just wanted to put in my two cents...about having some tolerance and dealing with Scientologists for who they/we are. And maybe even give us some credit for being intelligent, caring human beings who have found something important in Scientology.

Scientology bashing is de rigeur these days. All the kewl kids are doing it.
It's much easier to attack something peripherally than to get a true working knowledge of a subject.This is mainly because of a basic illiteracy on the subject of self-betterment and that people can truly get better as individuals by applying Scientology.
Some people prefer to believe the negatives rather than consider the positives of a subject.
This is not so much a 'thinking' blog as an attack blog. Doesn't require much thinking at all.
Just watch as the hatemongers come out of the woodwork and laud ilker for her 'humor.' Expect a lot of backslapping and horn honking.
And an extensive amount of vehement invective and occasional insane ranting.
@Johnny: Scientology drains people's money, stalks them, deludes them, threatens them, and steals from them.

I find it ironic that you deleted my posting that only had one link to a positive site so you can continue with bashing Scientology and not allowing people to know about the legitimacy of the religion.

I think you are the one making propaganda and yes we believe what we WANT to believe, or FORCED to believe. As far as I saw from your "training" sessions (read brainwashing) or free "stress" tests (read recruitment) Scientology is a cult.
Like all cults you force your followers and try to force everyone else to believe that you do good things. What's more you keep trying until you convince them (which is evident from your instant comment when I deleted your previous one) but guess what - you will fail here because I moderate the comments.
So get used to have your comments deleted because most people don't allow spam, or in your own words - propaganda, on their websites. Certainly I don't too.

If you knew me, you would know that no one forces me to believe anything. The only reason I am in Scientology is because it has provided a system by which I have been able to better my life.
I have read a huge amount that has been posted online regarding Scientology.
Since I joined, I have made a practice of getting both sides of the story but have maintained my own integrity in terms of how I have spiritually benefited from Scientology.
When people do not question the critics or their motivations, hatred and extreme animosity are a result, as is evidenced by your comments.
You are certainly entitled to your views and I know I cannot sway them because you have chosen your path.
I would hope, however, that you give some credence to the intelligence of the members and not paint us with a McCarthyistic brush.
Don't get wrapped up in the bile and keep your wits about you. It's easy to fall into the hating game.

I've seen all of the videos you've linked to. I'm no missionary, I'm just a guy who is no fan of people bashing his religion. I'm not attempting to make anyone a member of my religion. People will join or not. It either works for someone or it doesn't. I just think it is wrong to be militantly against something without knowing the full information. Which you don't, obviously.

Exactly my point. If people are interested in finding out then they can do it without anyones help. You don't need to go around telling how good it is..etc That is for missionaries to do.

There are very few real people, public Scientologists perusing the net on sites like this. In fact, even visiting a site like this would be a strict no-no.
So likely they’re the pros who work for the cult. And I don’t care how much they cry about “bashing.” Satire is a legitimate form of free speech. But Scientology hates free speech. It’s free speech that lets people know upfront that $cientology is an idiot con, ludicrous science fiction sold at outrageous prices as “spiritual truth.”

Kewl? I don’t know about ‘kewl.’ What I do know is that a science fiction writer created a monstrous cult solely for the purpose of enslaving people while syphoning their bank accounts.

Anomymous you seem somewhat out of balance in your bashing of johnny. Afterall, everything is a subjective experience including scientology and for all you know it could be the most important study in this universe. Maybe the fact that you have gone out of your way to put up this blog shows us who you really are as a person. People like you are not rare. You seek to keep others unhappy just like yourself. You are one of those people who day after day you walk in a fog without any hope for happiness. It angers you that others have smiles on their faces. You will deny this but i know that deep inside that you know it is true. Ive known people like you all my life and i find it sad that there are people like you who will go out of there way to keep everyone else as miserable as you are.
