They are, in a nutshell: nutjobs. However, I find most religions to be frightening by-and-large, so really I'm not sure this one is so much different. In any religion you will have the people who are hardcore (in this case: people that distrust technology) and people who are more relaxed. All of that being said, awesome list of links Ilker.

i think that some of the celebrities involved may be doing it as a career move.if catholicism was the biggest thing in hollywood,then all the catholic churches in burbank would be packed to the rafters.it is not the only cult out there.i was raised in deeply catholic ireland and found organised religion laughable by the time i was 7.I just dont understand how anyone can believe any religious dogma of any kind.It is being brainwashed in the church of your parents choice.

Scientology has been around for a long time, and has had an opportunity to infiltrate most countries and incorporate many ideas from other religious sources, science, and aspects of eastern philosophy. The problem is in distinguishing the difference between some of the established religious with Scientology,and other cults. Often the line between the two is not easily discernible especially when there is central figure at play, and the structure is based in a hierarchal format.

For myself, I have tried to make a distinction between an organized religiousness with a man made structure, and Spirituality.

Kelly is right. There's absolutely no difference between Scientology and any other religion if you want to talk about controlling people. What do you think the purpose of religion is? To control people. Why were the ten commandments created? To control people.

From the time a child in any religious family is young, it is brainwashed by the parents and indoctrinated into the cult, whether it's Catholicism, Buddism, Hinduism or any of the other isms.

I think people gonna realise the problem it is when there will be another mass massacre or scandal.

I agree that Scientology is more like a cult than a religion. The rules and restrictions it puts upon its followers is just crazy. I think what confirmed it for me was when Katie Holmes was due to have her baby and was not allowed to make noise during the birth to avoid traumatising the infant. HUH!!

I find Scientology extremely interesting and want to know what is Scientology and everything else I can learn about this
fascinating false religion. I like posting information I learn on my Scientology Blog or my Scientology Message Board.

When learning about this global scam of a "Church", I recommend watching the Bridge Movie. It is the first full length movie about Scientology to ever be released. All the other movies that were in production, like The Profit, are all being held up in the court systems by Scientology's lawyers. Another must see video is the Emmy nominated South Park Scientology episode that explains what Scientologist believe. It's too bad that Scientologists have to spend thousands of dollars before they get to level OT3 and learn about Xenu the Alien Galactic Overlord. Most lower level Scientologists will deny Xenu because the "church" has not taught it to them yet.

This is because they are at a lower level than OT3. In fact in OT8, which is currently the highest level in Scientology, L Ron Hubbard claims there was no Christ. Anyway keep up the great work.
