Most Thoughts: All Time Posts Roundup
This is the beginning of something new at The Thinking Blog. From now on I will compile a round-up post of the five "Most Thought" posts according to the number of comments at the end of each month. Since it's almost the end of the month now and this is the first round-up, I will include all the past months. I'm also thinking about linking to those who leave the "Most Thoughts" on the posts to simulate the Top Commentators plugin for WordPress in the next round up.Without further due, here are the top posts of The Thinking Blog:

One last thing about Top Commentators: Any suggestions on how to do this without manually counting everyone on every post? In any case, start

Certainly a cool idea Ilker. I'll be interested to see how many people copy you ;)
An idea would be to highlight a top comment from each post, which sort of sums up the thinking.
Or maybe a quick summary of that article.
I think quarterly rather than monthly would be better, but that's just my thoughts...
Thanks for the feedback Wayne. Any reason why you think quarterly is better than monthly?
I think some posts should be exempt from being included. For example, is a post entitled "Fave my Blog and I'll Fave Yours" really making people think about issues other than their Technorati rating?
Pagerank isn't exactly a topic of heated intellectual debate yet there it is right at the top of the list for April.
"Any reason why you think quarterly is better than monthly?"
Just simply to avoid the prospect of stale content.
It's a perception thing, and some of things you 'blog about may have a short shelf life.
Plus, it's something to look forward to, especially if you're rewarding your regulars because it's more featured.
Don't know if you've ever read the readers letters on The Register, that might be an idea, too...
Top Commentators could be automated somewhat if you had Wordpress, probably. I'm not sure, but I bet there is a plugin out there that would count the number of comments on each post. Maybe "popularity contest" plugin would do it.
ILker, I think its noteworthy that you want to highlight posts based on the comments recieved.
I'm not sure counting the number of responses is the best way to go , based on your overall blog philosophy, which is to encourage thought and urge people to seek out other thoughts because its important to see things from other peoples point of view.
Its not just the number of responses, I think is important, but the kind of responses your posts provoke, that is the essense of what makes your blog so different.
I admire the posts that get responses that reveal how whats been printed has illicited the commentators to think, or what its done to add, enrich and enlighten them in some fundamental way. How has a post provoked them to think about their lives, themselves, the world at large, or changed them?
One such example is the post on critical thinking , and logic. It may not recieve the greatest number of comments, but the quality of those comments are what makes those posts special, and unique.
Especially in a world where people can often be bedazzled by display, rather than content and effect.
Its very easy to say, Oh, I liked this post or that. Its another thing if a post gets someone to say why.....

The final list from 2Kbloggers.com is now available. Would be a great idea to download and publish as your next entry...
