The Art of Cigarette Packs
Art is art even though we all know nicotine is an ill substance and what happens to your body if you quit smoking right now. I found this book called 'No Smoking' by Luc Sante packaged in a beautiful box resembling a large cigarette pack, it is a social retrospective on the glamor and allure of cigarettes. However, the box is so well designed that it makes one wonder how the cigarette packs looked like before all the health warning messages. There is this site (French) showcasing the packs of almost all the known and less known brands of cigarettes but here is a selection of the best:[ Warning: Lots of images. I don't smoke. But what you show in the pictures I wish I could have some packets. It is very beautiful. You have done a great job.

I tried an experience once with someone I wanted to help quit smoking.
I designed her a proper personal pack of cigarette. It was a normal one wrapped in sheets of paper with ugly drawings on it (lungs, black, smoke,...). No contact with the brand itself (because hidden) and all the emotions usually associated to it. She couldn't stand this pack, didn't want to show it on public (so ridiculous, uncool and undesigned).
Did she smoke less?
Well, before she decided to throw the pack... certainly.
I am not a smoker but I really like the Vintage boxes. That art time period fascinates me.
I'm going to START SMOKING now that i've seen how c0ol these are!!!

I've never seen so many different package designs for cigarettes before lol. I don;t smoke though so I wouldn't pay attention to them in the first place lol.
It is cool to see the different designs. Each with their own message hoping to lure people to smoke them.
I don't smoke, but these are some nice packets collection..
All of you non-smokers...must be nice to have pink lungs. I am a smoker and I prefer the new Camel Art Packs. They gathered lots of artists and had them design packs covered in various styles of art. Some are VERY cool. Yeah, yeah, smoking is bad. You don't have to tell me.

Yeah, I used to smoke Newports. Thank God I never got addicted.
I've been thinking about quitting ... hehe ... but I've also been thinking about submitting a design for the Camel 'Art Packs' they are promoting right now ;)

Absoloutly splendid what these marketing guys are doing to spread cancer. (lol) I am wondering ... when they will put on a ciggie pack "Just die with pride" .... I like also the design of your blog. Very nice and very clear ! The only thing I don't like is the huge size of the videos.

thanks for putting together all those cigarette packs, i've been looking all over the net for archived photos of various pack designs and couldn't find anything decent. You saved the day! Now i can move on with my project, cheers :)

The packs are really cool.I know one more place, they do have almost all existing brands.Watch collectors packs they are the most cool.The open project is named encyclopedia of cigarettes(www.cigarettespedia.com)
