Go Outside. Make some real life friends. Live your life. Second Life is a popular virtual world which recently crossed one million residents. To parody Second Life, Darren Barefoot created a one page satire site called Get a First Life which is a '3D analog world where server lag does not exist.' This blaugh seemed appropriate here:

The thing is that it seems easier for many people to get their "second life" rather than their first. But what can be compared of simply leaving your house to go out and meet some friends in person?
I like the idea behind second life. Its always "easier" to live in an environment where your real existence doesn't play any role.
But frankly i have problems understanding the (supposed) hype around second life.
The system is technically speaking stone aged and the amount of things you really can do ...
The streaming of graphical data alone is a horror.
If it were possible to mix the possibilities of modern MMORPG games with the "reality" of a second life ... that would be a really interesting thing.

Apparently, Google Earth now lets you get a Third Life! Where will this end folks?
I'm a little surprised by how second life is catching in the education field. Ed professionals are enjoying the idea of using SL as a venue for professional development and collaboration.
SL in general still creeps me out a little.
I stare at the computer screen all day in my first life for work, blogging, designing websites, looking at stock quotes and finance news....like why would I want to stare at a computer screen again in "Second Life?"
I don't get it also, Second Life is just another form of escape. Where people escape to an alter ego in a virtual world. That's my 2 cents.
i feel as tho' i have lived many lives since i was born in this physical form. each has brought with it it's own questions and issues that have molded me into the woman i am today. and i will cintinue to grow till the day i die and leave this bodly form and place. taking with me all that i have learned into whatever awaits me. it's not so much as a first life or second, as much as it is about how we learn and put into action our wisdom. life is all from one book but there are many chapters to go thru. each person has their own personal book made just for them. everyone should just do the best they can with what they have at that time in their lives. it matters only to ourselves what we must do to make it thru life. and you can never have too many friends, so yea for those of us that are more bold it is fun to go out of the house and talk with real people face to face. it's a totally differant thing than typing out on a page. whether out side our homes or thru the internet it is good to continue to make friends and be active and aware always! going on with my life guessing what will happen next. i just let it roll out as each day appears. makes it fun to wake up to each morning.i guess in my situation with my youngest only ayear from leaving home and joining the navy i am about to enter what i guess you would say is yet another life. each one is a blessing and a gift. make it worth your effort setting goals to attain. we learn by example so pay attention to what you have gone thru and others around you and how they have managed and what the outcome. try to listen when people talk to you, get to know that person and how they think. there is more than one way to the distination we are all going towards whether we acknowledge it or not. the future will happen. grow or get mowed.
